PA Tax Credit Progams
EITC/SPE
Pennsylvania allows individuals to take advantage of EITC Tax Credits—just as businesses can—providing a unique opportunity to redirect 90% of your personal state income taxes to St. John the Baptist Catholic School.
Upon the creation of the EITC program on May 7, 2001, the Diocese of Harrisburg established the Neumann Scholarship Foundation (NSF) to administer funds generated through these tax credits, ensuring they are used exclusively for tuition assistance.
There are many meaningful ways to support St. John the Baptist Catholic School, and the Tax Credit Programs are among the most impactful. Whether you are an individual who qualifies for a Special Purpose Entity (SPE) or a business eligible for the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) Program, participating is a simple and effective way to invest in current and future SJB students.
If you pay personal Pennsylvania income taxes—whether filing individually or jointly—you now have the ability to choose how your tax dollars are used each year by joining an SPE. Because SPE eligibility is based on tax liability rather than income, individual circumstances vary. To participate, an individual or jointly filing couple must have a minimum PA tax liability of $3,500. You can confirm your eligibility by checking Form PA-40, Line 12 on your state tax return. Best of all, 100% of your contributions are distributed directly to the school.
Participating in these programs is truly one of the simplest and most powerful ways to make a difference. By redirecting taxes you already owe, you can help transform the lives of students at St. John the Baptist Catholic School—turning an ordinary tax payment into an extraordinary act of support.

EITC/OSTC - Businesses
Corporate donors can earn up to 90% in tax credits by participating in Pennsylvania’s EITC (Educational Improvement Tax Credit) or OSTC (Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit) programs. These invaluable programs generate essential tuition assistance funds that support our students and help make Catholic education accessible to more families. Applications and detailed information for both programs may be found at the links below.

The Neumann Scholarship Foundation provides financial assistance to families within the Diocese of Harrisburg who desire a Catholic school education for their children but lack the financial means to pay full tuition. Contributions to the Neumann Scholarship Foundation come from local businesses participating in the EITC and OSTC programs, making these tax-credit opportunities a vital source of support for our schools.
How does your participation benefit St. John the Baptist School?

Your business has the power to make a transformative impact at St. John’s by assisting families who long to provide their children with an excellent, faith-based education but face financial obstacles. Increased tuition assistance funds generated through SPE, EITC, and OSTC participation allow more children to enroll in our school and flourish in an environment rooted in faith, academics, and character.

The EITC program has achieved what many in Pennsylvania advocated for over the years: engaging the business community directly in supporting education. It allows companies to invest locally—supporting students and schools in their own communities—at minimal cost, all while redirecting tax dollars that would otherwise go to Harrisburg. It truly is that simple.

As one Lancaster insurance executive remarked, “The EITC program is the biggest no-brainer in the history of philanthropy and is a completely win-win situation for all qualifying businesses!”
