The act of volunteering promotes fellowship, fun, goodwill, and personal fulfillment.  If you are interested in volunteering and looking for a group to join, please stop by the parish office, we'll be happy to help you get in touch with their point of contact.

Altar Servers

A group of dedicated young people who serve Our Lord and his priests during Mass and who help to lead the faithful in worship.  Anyone age 11 or older who is interested in serving should contact Scott Snyder at 717-227-3829.


Baptismal Preparation / Mentoring Process

This ministry prepares families for the baptism of their children.  We are also seeking volunteer couples to assist with this most important ministry.  Contact John and Shelley Pokrivka 717-428-2466 or Shelley 717-235-2156.


Care for Creation / Environmental Justice

The primary mission of St. John's Care for Creation Ministry is to enlighten and inspire the Faithful toward a vision of environmental justice and stewardship of Creation. Contact Michael Wright 717-235-7081.


Children’s Liturgy of the Word

A group who prepares the Liturgy of the Word for children in grades K through 3.  They offer this the 1st and 3rd Sunday of every month at the 9:00 AM Mass in Our Lady’s Chapel, while the regular Liturgy of the Word is being read in the main church.  New members welcome.  Minimal commitment hours.  Contact Sally Philbin 717-993-0465.


Clothing Bank

This is a service that provides clothing to those of our community in need. The clothing bank is housed in the new Outreach Center.   The clothing bank is open Wednesday mornings from 10:00 – 11:00 AM and Saturdays from 9:00 – 11:00 AM. Donations may be dropped off from 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM seven days a week.  Contact Lucy Cadwallader 717-235-7034.


Funeral Luncheon Ministry

This ministry will provide a light luncheon for family and guests after a funeral held here at St. John’s.  The luncheon committee takes care of all arrangements.  Free will donations are accepted.  Contact Judi Hooper 717-235-6251 or Ann Shemo


Home Schoolers

This is a support group offering fellowship and encouragement for families providing or considering Catholic education at home.  Contact Amy Snyder at 717-227-3829.


Knights of Columbus

Men’s Catholic, family, fraternal organization that provides service to the church and community while enjoying the camaraderie of its brothers.  Contact Don Vosnick 724-288-7225.



Greeters, Ushers, Sacristans, Altar Servers, Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors and Cantors – this group of people work together to provide us with a joyful celebration of the Eucharist.  Contact Tom Lauer 717-916-0181 (cell) .


Marriage Preparation / Mentoring Process “Pre-Cana”

This ministry consists of a group of mentor couples that serve engaged couples preparing for marriage.  They provide a workshop designed to facilitate the engaged couple’s exploration of marital issues.  Contact Lorraine & Tim Wickiser 410-357-8840.

Nursery Ministry

At this time the parish does not provide supervised nursery services.  Parents are welcome to visit the nursery with their child and listen to the mass.  Children are NOT to be left in the nursery unattended. 


Parish Health Ministry

Professional caregivers provide information on health related issues, facilitate monthly blood pressure readings and periodic stroke assessment, provide first aid during parish events, sponsor flu inoculations and encourage a healthy lifestyle within community life. Parish Pastoral Council

Leadership committee of parish life sets policy for the parish.  Meetings are held monthly. For information contact Brian Noll 717-858-2377.


Parish Finance Committee

Meets quarterly to review budget and assist in parish stewardship.  Contact Nina David 717-235-2156 Ext. 222.


Peace and Justice Ministry

Plans projects, which provide positive changes in social and human injustices including a strong pro-life stance.  We try to educate and take action about basic needs of life according to the gospel teachings. Contact Pam Freidhoff  717-873-6173.


Rachel’s Vineyard

For anyone, man or woman, who may be struggling with the emotional or spiritual pain of an abortion. This ministry offers the opportunity to share your pain and holds retreats to help experience the mercy and compassion of God. Respect Life Ministry 

Awareness and education of all life issues, abortion, euthanasia, prison ministry, death penalty awareness, elderly, and all those at most risk. St. John’s Jewels

An ecumenical group of seniors fifty years of age and over, who meet to get to know and work with other people in our parish and community.  Our meetings are held on the second and fourth Mondays of each month in Neumann Hall, excluding December and January.  Contact Frances Schaeffer 410-357-8531 for more information.


Southern York County Food Pantry

An ecumenical endeavor of the churches in Southern York County to deliver food and other staples to any member of the community who is in need.  The 24-hour number to request assistance is 717-235-6370.  


Welcoming Committee

A committee that welcomes new parishioners and makes them and all parishioners aware of what activities are available in the parish.  If interested in helping with this ministry, please contact the parish office 717-235-2156.


Vocations Committee
